Sipping this Piñada takes me straight to the beach in Mexico, swimsuit on, without a care in the world. It’s an easy non alcoholic piña colada recipe that is perfect for serving as a special summer drink or at parties with friends and family. If you want to sip on something tropical without the alcohol—but still get the creamy, coconut, pineapple goodness—then you have to give this a try!

When my husband and I first started visiting the beach in Mexico together, he would always order a piña colada sin alcohol, or Piñada. As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I wasn’t familiar with piña coladas and wasn’t even interested in tasting his. I didn’t learn what I was missing out on until one time we were at a small restaurant and the waiter explained they made too much in the kitchen and offered me a small glass. It was love at first sip!

I knew I had to master a recipe so that I could make it at home for my family and serve it on special occasions. The creaminess of the coconut paired with the sweet tropical flavor of the pineapple is irresistible, and it’s only 3 ingredients! I think you’ll love it too.

What Is a Piñada?

A piñada is essentially a non alcoholic piña colada—a creamy, sweet, tropical drink made with pineapple and coconut, blended to perfection. It’s everything you love about the classic beachside drink, just without the rum.

The name “piñada” comes from the same roots as “piña colada,” which means “strained pineapple.” The difference? A piñada skips the rum entirely, making it a great option for:

  • Kids and teens
  • Pregnancy
  • Anyone avoiding alcohol
  • Midday refreshment without the buzz

Sometimes you just want the flavor without the after-effects—and that’s exactly what this drink delivers.

Why You’ll Love This Non Alcoholic Piña Colada

A good piñada isn’t just a substitute for its famous sister—it stands on its own.

Here’s why:

1. It’s incredibly refreshing
The combination of pineapple juice and coconut is naturally cooling and hydrating.

2. It feels indulgent (without being heavy)
Creamy, smooth, and slightly sweet—it feels like dessert, but lighter.

3. It’s ridiculously easy to make
It only takes 3 ingredients and no fancy tools required. If you can use a blender, you’re good.

4. It’s customizable
Want it sweeter? Creamier? More tropical? You can tweak it however you like.

How to Make a Piñada (Step-by-Step)

Here’s how to make this super simple, 3 ingredient, non alcoholic piña colada.

Ingredients

  • 3 6 oz cans of pineapple juice (I use this Dole pineapple juice)
  • 7 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 7 oz coconut cream
  • 2 cups of ice
Can of coconut cream, sweetened condensed milk and three cans of dole pineapple juice with white background

Instructions

  1. Add everything to a blender
Toss the pineapple juice, coconut cream, sweetened condensed milk, and ice in a blender and blend until smooth like a slushy.
  2. Pour and serve
Pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, cherry, or even a tiny umbrella (optional but fun).

And that’s it—now you have a perfect piñada.

Tips for Making Non Alcoholic Piña Coladas

After making this drink more times than I can count, here are a few pointers:

For a lighter drink
If you are looking for modifications for a slightly more healthy or low calorie drink, substitute coconut milk instead of coconut cream.

If using fresh pineapple
Choose a very ripe pineapple if you want the freshest, sweetest flavor. You can also freeze it in advance, then add it instead of ice for to make an extra bright and natural tasting mocktail.

Fun Variations to Try

One of the best things about a piñada is how easy it is to customize.

Strawberry Piñada

Add a handful of fresh or frozen strawberries for a fruity twist.

Mango Piñada

Swap or mix in mango for a different tropical flavor.

Banana Piñada

Blend in a banana for more creaminess.

Protein Piñada

Throw in a scoop of vanilla protein powder for a post-workout version.

When to Serve a Piñada

Piñadas are great any time of year but hit the spot most in the summer.

But it’s especially perfect for:

  • Summer afternoons
  • Pool parties
  • Brunch gatherings
  • Baby showers
  • Family-friendly events
  • Kids’ Parties

It’s a drink that feels special without being complicated.

Making It Ahead of Time

If you’re hosting or just want to prep in advance, you can absolutely make a piñada ahead of time.

Here’s how:

  • Combine all ingredients except the ice
  • Store in the fridge for up to 24 hours
  • Blend again with ice before serving

Final Thoughts: The Best Tropical Mocktail

Whether you’re calling it a piñada or a piña colada sin alcohol, it’s got everything you want: creamy texture, tropical flavor, and so refreshing.

And the best part? Just 3 ingredients.

It’s so easy and delicious you’ll be glad you did. When you do, I’d love to hear how it turned out—did you stick to the recipe or try your own twist? Let me know in the comments!
